Into the tomb.....

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

The Passover is drawing to a close. The lifeless body of Jesus was taken off the cross and placed in a borrowed tomb......

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

This is the Lord's Passover!

Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire.  And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.

This very evening as the full Moon rises over the eastern horizon and the Sun sinks behind the trees, it is the Lord's Passover.

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves;  for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Tonight I will escape the cares of this world and find my way to the hayfield. I will remember the terrible wages of sin, and the One who bought my freedom. As John proclaimed from the River Jordan, "Behold! The Lamb of God! Who takes away the sin of the world!" I will proclaim in my heart; Behold! the Lamb of God that was slain for me!

Take time this Passover Night to remember the One who died for you.

BRING THE LAMB INTO THE HOUSE!!!!!

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household."
Exodus 12

As the sun sets tonight so begins the tenth day of the first month. Jesus was Only days away from the cross. In the morning He would instruct His friends to go get for Him a Donkey and young colt. Jesus would enter Jerusalem and make His way to the Temple, His Father's house.

The Lamb is in the house, being examined for four days. The Lamb will be found perfect, without spot or blemish, an acceptable sacrifice. His shed blood will wash away my sin and make me white as snow.
